There are only two versions of Ubuntu that work correctly with Deep Art Effects 1.0.15. The supported Ubuntu releases are Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 18.04 (the latter with some messing). Ubuntu 14.04, 18.10 and 19.04 either are not supported or fail in the render stage.
Ubuntu 16.04 works “out of the box” and is very simple to get going
Ubuntu 18.04 works once you’ve swapped OpenJRE for Oracle’s JRE 8
